Do we always love being pregnant?

"I'm gonna keep it real: For me, pregnancy is the worst experience of my life! LOL! I don't enjoy one moment of it and I don't understand people who enjoy it. My mom and Kourtney clearly did! More power to them but I just don't relate."

So reads part of a blog recently posted by seven month pregnant, Kim Kardashian West, as an open declaration of her true feelings about pregnancy. And she did pledge to share all of her journey with her followers (for reference, her most recent cites she feels like a whale and is addicted to Taco salad, and spends most of her time surrounded by pillows.)

Pregnancy is a journey that can be a truly incredible and beautiful time, one to share with your partner, family and friends. After all, we are bringing a new life into this world, and really it’s quite amazing how our body is doing it!

But what happens if the journey isn’t what you expected and you don’t get the ‘glowing feeling…’

Kim continues: “I just always feel like I'm not in my own skin. It's hard to explain. I don't feel sexy, either -- I feel insecure and most of the time I just feel gross."

For many who do suffer during pregnancy, we believe we are expected to put on a brave face and enjoy every moment. Indeed many mums cite a feeling of guilt at feeling anything else, especially if the road to getting pregnant in the first place hasn’t been smooth, and knowing there are so many out there who struggle to conceive or cannot at all.

Perhaps this is most compounded in the first trimester when we are suffering from the likes of morning sickness and constant hormonal changes together with a new set of symptoms every two weeks. The pregnancy can leave many feeling lonely and even depressed, especially at the stage where no one has been told.

So whatever our feelings about Kim Kardashian West as a person, perhaps what she has shown most truly to us all is that every pregnancy is different, and that is something we can all accept. Whilst some will have no issues and be able to carry on, almost as normal, others will really suffer. And this applies wherever we are in the world!

Really the light at the end of the tunnel is where we all agree, the moment our beautiful bundle of joy is born. Even Kim says that "Really, it is all SO worth it when you have your precious baby in the end! So for all my complaining, it's 100 percent worth it and more!!!"
